R. Weichold German Violin Bow, c.1900
This is a top quality bow from the Weichold workshop. The handle area had minor damaged and has been fully restored, the rest of the stick is in perfect condition and it handles like new. At around half-price, this is a great bargain for the advanced student.
Richard Weichold learned violin making as an apprentice of C.G.Pfretzschner before joining his father’s shop which he took over on the latter’s death. He built a very successful bow making enterprise in Dresden, not only employing a large number of bowmakers making a wide range of bows, but buying in completed bows from some of the finest bow makers in Germany which were subsequently stamped with the Weichold trade stamps.
